Newell’s Media Planning class published in The Gazette

Author: Troy Rutter

Associate Professor Jay Newell placed the ISU Media Planning students’ research/think piece on the dramatically changing role of Iowa television in presidential political advertising on the front of [Sunday’s editorial section of the Cedar Rapids Gazette](http://www.thegazette.com/subject/opinion/guest-columnists/our-democracy-depends-on-our-getting-out-of-the-filter-bubble-20161113) (circulation 55,000).

The story [links to a Greenlee webpage](https://greenlee.iastate.edu/2016/11/07/democracy-depends-on-bursting-the-filter-bubble/) with photo and student credits, as well as access to the data collected by students.

“Big thanks go to the Cedar Rapids Gazette for giving the student work a home,” Newell states. “I hope we can find more ways to work together. I could not be prouder of our students.”
