Shawn Dorius, associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, delivered an invited national training in data visualization to state alcohol epidemiologists, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded Center for Advancing Alcohol Science to Practice.
This project enables a rebuilding of the Story Count, Iowa, prevention partnership with a project aimed at moving people with substance use disorder more directly to treatment services.
The three year, $500,000 award enables Dorius’ research team to implement a holistic, systems-level approach to community safety issues (multi-solving), with a focus on road safety.

Katherine Dentzman, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, will become editor-in-chief of the journal Renewable Agriculture and Food Systems beginning Jan. 1, 2024.
This is the official publication of the Corrections Section of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Bouffard will serve as the associate editor from January 2024 through December 2026, and then will serve as the editor from January 2027 through December 2029.
