Tom Knudson (1980) won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 1985 for his series of Des Moines Register articles examining the occupational dangers of farming. He worked for the New York Times and joined The Sacramento Bee in 1988, where his reporting on environmental damage in the Sierra Nevada earned him a second Pulitzer in 1991. He has since been recognized with the regional Environmental Media Award from the Reuters Foundation and World Conservation Union for reporting done at The Bee.
