Brian Smith is an engagement editor at the Des Moines Register, where he’s served in various digital and opinion roles since 2012. He's a native Iowan and graduate of Iowa State University. Brian works with the Register’s journalists to help them connect with Iowans through social media, events and digital storytelling. He also serves as the regional social media lead for the USA TODAY NETWORK’s Plains Region.
