Richard Bartecki

Bio

Richard Bartecki serves as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Institutional Relations at IES Abroad, where he leads the organization’s Global Enrollment Management, Recruiting and Advising, Admissions, Diversity, Internships, and U.S. and International Marketing departments.

IES Abroad is one of the world’s largest study abroad organizations, educating more than 10,000 college students a year in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Australia and North America. Richard is responsible for IES Abroad’s national and international sales and customer service efforts, financial aid, global advertising and marketing, diversity recruiting and advising, special events and conferences, and product pricing.

During his 30-year career, Bartecki has won dozens of local, national and international awards, including honors from PR Week magazine, the Publicity Club of Chicago and the American Association of Museums. His areas of expertise include social and online global youth marketing, public relations, destination marketing and promotion, global crisis management, non-profit marketing and promotions, new product development and pricing.

Prior to joining IES Abroad in April of 2009, he served as Vice President of Marketing for the Chicago Botanic Garden, the Regenstein School of the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Institute for Plant Conservation Biology.

Prior to the Chicago Botanic Garden, Bartecki served as Senior Vice President and Group Director at Ogilvy PR Worldwide, one of the world’s largest public relations firms, leading U.S.-based and global account teams that included BP, Castrol, Rubbermaid, Snap-on Tools, Dow Chemical, DuPont, True Value Hardware, the International Race of Champions and many other consumer products companies.

A resident of Evanston, Illinois, he currently serves on the Advisory Council of Diversity Abroad and is a former board member of Botanic Gardens Conservation International, Friends of the Chicago River and the DuPage Audubon Society.

He holds a B.S. in journalism from Iowa State University.
