Sandy is assistant news director of WGN-TV in Chicago. Since 2014, she has helped lead the expansion of WGN to 12.5 hours of local programming a day – the most in the city. A 20-year veteran of WGN News, Sandy has worked in a variety of capacities at the station. In February 2009, she became executive producer of WGN Morning News. During that time, the show expanded to a full six hours and became the number-one morning show in ratings in Chicago, beating Good Morning America and TODAY. Prior to her EP duties, she held various producer and writing positions at the station. Sandy began at WGN as an intern, and before that, worked at CNN as an intern for Larry King Live. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
