Winfrey Gives Several Interviews on 2016 Election, to Host Elect Her Workshop

Assistant Professor Kelly Winfrey, an expert in political communication, has been very active during this presidential election year. She is hosting the “Elect Her” workshop at ISU on Jan. 23, 2016. The American Association of University Women sponsors the workshop and selected ISU as one of fifty locations to host. The workshop trains young women to run for student government and elected office after graduation.

Winfrey also reports that she:

• Moderated a panel discussion, “About the Iowa Caucuses,” at the Ames Public Library on Jan. 19.
• Presented “Women, Leadership, and the Impostor Syndrome” at the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) Leadership Conference on Jan. 16.
• Appeared on Iowa Public Radio’s River to River on Nov. 16 for the segment “Paris Attacks Force Changes In Des Moines Debate.”
• Interviewed by the Gazette for the article “Bias appears to be gone, but women still a minority in government: Working to fix gender imbalance,” Jan. 3, 2016.
• Interviewed by the Straits Times for the article “Bill is Hillary’s ‘secret’ campaign weapon,” Dec. 29, 2015.
• Organized and hosted the Caucus Education Workshop on Nov. 9. Over 100 people attended the workshop co-sponsored by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, League of Women Voters, and the Committee on Lectures (funded by Student Government).
