Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication faculty and graduate students will serve on panels and moderate sessions at the annual conference of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). The conference will be held virtually Aug. 5-9, and the 2020 theme is “Save the Planet Through Better Media and Communication.”
Additionally, Greenlee master’s program student Yuxi (Lexi) He was selected to participate in the AEJMC Presidential Diversity and Inclusion Career Development program. She is one of 74 fellows who attend a special 90-minute workshop that focuses on the academic job market, hiring, and early career advice. Her major professor is Angela Powers.
AEJMC is a nonprofit, educational association of journalism and mass communication educators, students and media professionals. AEJMC’s mission is to advance education, foster scholarly research, cultivate better professional practice and promote the free flow of communication. Its annual conference features sessions on teaching, research and public service in the various components of journalism and mass communication – from advertising and public relations to electronic and online journalism to media management and newspapers.
Greenlee faculty have several leadership roles in the association. Jan Lauren Boyles, associate professor and Greenlee’s Director of Graduate Education, is Vice Chair of AEJMC’s Council of Divisions. Professor Powers is a member of the 2019-20 Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication Executive Committee and is co-chairing the AEJMC Presidential Diversity and Inclusion Career Develop Fellowship Task Force. Professor Daniela Dimitrova is the incoming editor of Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, AEJMC’s flagship academic journal.
