Students in the Greenlee School produced their first episode of the brand-new show “EverGreenlee News” Nov. 7. All semester, students in assistant teaching professor Tony Moton’s Broadcast Media Production course learned and practiced with the production equipment in the Student Innovation Center’s digital media studio in preparation for creating the TV news show.
This summer I had an incredible opportunity to dive into the world of social media and copywriting through my content internship with Deksia. Deksia is an advertising agency with locations across several states, including Iowa. As a content intern, I got to learn and grow my skills in social media planning and management, content writing, and project collaboration across several teams.
Tracy Lucht, associate professor in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, was installed as the president of the American Journalism Historians Association at the organization’s convention in September. “I’m thrilled to be in this role and happy to serve my colleagues in this way,” Lucht said.

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University has named Alan and Steve Mores the recipients of its 2023 James W. Schwartz Award. The annual award recognizes distinguished service to journalism and communication and is the highest honor conferred by the school.
This summer, I was a social media intern for Parks Marina Inc. Parks Marina is a prominent marina in the tourist town of Okoboji, Iowa, that also owns several restaurants, boutiques and businesses in the area. I got the opportunity to do marketing work for all of them.
I just finished my summer internship and am ready to share my experiences! I wanted to be close to my hometown and applied for a social media marketing internship with the Iowa 80 Group in Walcott, Iowa. The internship was for their website Iowa80.com, which has all the main social media platforms to direct traffic to their website.

My summer at the Iowa Capital Dispatch sharpened skills I learned at Iowa State and helped me realize the skills I never knew I needed. I spent the summer keeping up with Iowa’s congressional delegates, reporting on the governor’s office, following the presidential campaign trail and more.
This summer, I had the pleasure of working my second social media internship in Omaha, Nebraska. I worked with the marketing and communications department at a company called Lozier, a leader in manufacturing store fixtures.
