Tony Moton, an assistant teaching professor of journalism and sports media at the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University, spent an eventful two weeks in Chicago this summer for an externship at media outlets and visits to the annual National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention and Career Fair.
Iowa State University’s Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication welcomed new faculty member James McNab, assistant teaching professor, in January. He covers broadcast media and video production at the undergraduate level.
Jan Lauren Boyles, associate director of the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University and associate professor, will serve as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism this summer.
Tracy Lucht, associate professor in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, was installed as the president of the American Journalism Historians Association at the organization’s convention in September. “I’m thrilled to be in this role and happy to serve my colleagues in this way,” Lucht said.
After a site visit in spring 2023, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) recertified the public relations degree offered at Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication.
Iowa State University’s Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication will welcome new faculty member Tony Moton, assistant teaching professor, in August of 2023. Moton will address teaching, research and service in sports media at the undergraduate level.
Jan Lauren Boyles, associate professor and associate director of the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University, was selected to attend a prestigious immersion program. The initiative, designed to train leaders of journalism and mass communications schools, is supported by the Scripps Howard Foundation.
Every six years, the Greenlee School has the opportunity to measure its work against national standards. Due to the ongoing pandemic during the 2020-2021 academic year, when the school would ordinarily have been reviewed, the site teams didn’t complete their visit until Fall 2022 and Spring 2023.
First Amendment Days is a weeklong celebration of our First Amendment freedoms – religion, speech, press, assembly, petition. This year the celebration will be April 10-14. A diverse assortment of speakers, events and activities are offered on campus every spring as a creative way to engage students and the entire Iowa State community to better understand the power of free expression.
